Musings

(posted on 27 Jan 2013)

A few days ago, the winter sun drew me outdoors to hike the bluffs to gain an expansive overview of the Saanich Peninsula, Victoria in the distance, Boundary Pass, Haro Strait, and the San Juan Islands. I was not the only one reveling in the sunshine. Two ravens soared and dipped and swooped in unison, flying apart and coming back together over and over and over in the buoyant updrafts. They seemed to be courting, and it did feel like spring. The image below shows them above the ocean and then cropped for a closer look at the flirting.
