Painter and author, Sandy Shreve, has kindly invited me to join her at Ridgeview Studio for the 2020 Pender Island Fall Crawl.  The map and other details about this exciting 2-day event are available at the Ptarmigan Arts website.  Weather permitting, we will display art outside as well as in Sandy's studio.

Invited artists were asked to create a work in any medium in homage to any artist of their choice, and to write 100 words or less about the artist to whom they choose to pay tribute.

My inspiration is Mary Pratt, whose luminous nuanced paintings draw the viewer’s attention to the beauty of the ordinary. Pratt worked from photograph to painting; I’ve enjoyed working backwards – from painting to photograph. Mary Pratt’s subject matter frequently includes food, foil, and plastic wrap. Playing with similar elements, I used her paintings as a springboard, and the repercussion propelled me in a different direction and farther from my prototype than I ever would have imagined. In some ways it feels presumptuous to be so bold.

"The Sidney Fine Art Show began in 2003 and has become one of the largest and most prestigious juried art shows in British Columbia. This 3-day event has grown steadily bringing over 3,000 visitors in to view the art. Over 1,000 pieces of art come in for adjudication from which our Jurors select close to 400 for the Show. It is always a diverse selection of painting, sculpture, fibre arts, photography and more guaranteed to intrigue the viewer and stimulate discussion. Word has spread among our visitors that this is THE show to see."

The Red Tree Artists' Collective is excited to be branching out to show at Goward House in Victoria.
The show opens next Sunday September 30th with an afternoon reception
from 1:30 to 3:30. Artists will be in attendance and we would love to welcome
our friends and yours to our first-ever show outside the marine confines of Pender Island.
Refreshments will be served.

The photography of Diane MacDonald, the paintings of Diane Kremmer, and the sculptural pieces of MD Hennessy will be featured at Red Tree Gallery for the month of September.

21st annual outdoor show featuring art and music on South Pender Island. Come by car or boat - moor at Poet's Cove Resort and Marina. The Church of the Good Shepherd is right next door.

Celebrate the 20th annual Art off the Fence with art, music, food, and friends.

It has been a labour of love to put some (89) of my favourite images together in "Pender Island and the Salish Sea". I am excited to have the finished product in my hands - and will be signing copies at Talisman Books and Gallery this Saturday, July 5th from 2 until 4.

The book is also available at Sea Star Vineyards and at long-weekend farmers' markets on Pender Island.
